Ruth Deyle Rohrback Cartwright, 81, of Billings, died Aug. 12, 2011, of lung cancer.
She was born in Wishek, N.D., on June 1, 1930, to David and Frieda Deyle. They moved to Montana in 1936. Because of her German upbringing, she was unable to speak English when she started first grade.
Following high school, she married Raymond E. Rohrback in 1948. They had four children and moved around, following his construction work, before settling in Billings in the mid 1950s. She helped him remodel and build three homes for their family.
Mr. Rohrback died in 1992. She married William “Bill” Cartwright in 2001. He died in 2003.
She had received care from Billings Clinic and RiverStone Hospice and words of prayer from Denis Pitman.
Survivors include daughters, Roxy Klundt and Ramona Bailey of Billings and Rhonda Wipf of Lovell, Wyo.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores Vermandel and Faye Deyle; and brothers, Ronald and David Deyle.
At her request, no service was held. Family members were to meet later to celebrate her life. Arrangements were by Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
