My name is Deanna Jones. I was born and raised in Billings. My business was Kandyland Dance School. For years we volunteered performances at the nursing homes.
I have been volunteering at cancer centers, hospitals, nursing homes and children’s events as a clown, mostly in the Helena, Townsend and Bozeman areas. I am a 73-year-old grandmother on a mission to help others.
I met Jacob Hartford and his grandmother a year ago.
Jacob receives enzyme treatment for State III Gaucher’s disease every other week. Gaucher’s disease is an enzyme disorder that causes fatty substances to build up in excessive amounts in the liver, spleen, lungs, bone marrow and sometimes the brain. It affects one in 50,000 to 100,000 people.
Jacob’s treatment lasts three hours. He receives enzymes through a port in his tiny chest. This disease does not go away. Gaucher’s disease will take Jacob into early adulthood, God permitting.
Jacob was diagnosed with Gaucher’s disease at the age of 3. He was transferred to the Seattle Children’s Hospital for immediate treatment. On Aug. 3, Jacob and his grandmother departed to Seattle Children’s Hospital. He will receive 13 days of constant testing for Gaucher’s disease. This testing happens once a year so personal costs are devastating.
I am in hopes that people may find it in their hearts to help this little guy. This family could use your help. Jacob is loved by many, especially me. If you could see his loving, smiling, shiny face, you would love him too. He never complains, just keeps smiling.
Jacob’s grandmother has taken over Jacob’s health care. Jacob and his grandmother would appreciate anything you can do to help them.
The account is not tax deductible at this time. We are in the process of changing this account. We are in hopes that this journey for Jacob will also help others with Gaucher’s disease.
Thank you, my friends. God loves you and all the children.
