Stop the XL Keystone pipeline. One thing we learned from Exxon’s Silvertip spill is that they can put anything they want to into pipelines. That spill contained benzene and other carcinogens which have now “disappeared into the environment,” as Exxon puts it. The XL will carry vastly greater amounts of all of this poison. It will spill eventually, even though they “learn something from every spill.” Gee.
Instead, we need to develop more clean energy, get off fossil fuel, build alternative transportation, conserve everything, and become far more efficient in all energy use. This transition will create jobs.
