Gertrude Lydia Holmlund, 99, who had run several businesses with her husband, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011.
She was born in Hinton, Iowa, on July 17, 1912, to Fred and Minnie Dahlman. The family moved to a homestead near Angela when she was 2 years old.
She graduated from Miles City High School in 1930. In October 1931 she married Leif Holmlund. They moved to Angela where they had a general store and post office until 1935. They then moved to Baker to establish a Standard Oil station and later the Baker Furniture Store.
After retirement, Mrs. Holmlund moved to Billings to be close to her daughter. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include children, Jeanne Jacobsen and Dale Holmlund; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Dahlman.
Services were held Oct. 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Billings. Inurnment was next to her husband at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City. Arrangements were by Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
