Ronald L. “Bill” Jacobs, 85, a retired mechanic, died at home on Oct. 26, 2011, of lung cancer.
He was born on April 27, 1926, in Billings to Theodore and Audrey (Eddy) Jacobs. He attended school in Billings and married Magdalene Diebert on June 18, 1947.
He was raised and worked on the family farm in the Huntley-Shepherd area, was a 4-H leader, and received an honorable discharge from the Navy Reserves. He was a certified mechanic, working for McBees Auto Shop, Rowan Motors and Lew’s Chevrolet, retiring after 28 years with the city of Billings in the Motor Pool.
He was a member of Little Flower Church and the Moose and Elks lodges. He had received care from Journey Hospice.
Survivors include his wife; five children, David Jacobs of Denver, Frances Snowden of Albuquerque, N.M., Daniel Jacobs of Mountain Home, Idaho, Darrel Jacobs of Fall City, Wash., and Susan Wilkerson of Billings; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Donna Shannon.
Vigil services were held Oct. 30 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, and Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 31 at Little Flower Catholic Church with Rite of Committal in Holy Cross Cemetery.
