Mary Dorothy Papka, 90, a member of the Moose Lodge for more than 50 years, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011.
She was born Feb. 12, 1921, in Wahpeton, N.D., to George and Anna (Rehm) Voit. She lived in North Dakota and South Dakota before moving to Minnesota. She married Vernon William Papka in 1940, and they moved to Billings in 1955 to make a better life for themselves.
Mrs. Papka had attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church since the early 1960s.
Survivors include sons, Gary Papka, Keith Papka, Will Papka, Ken Papka and Dave Papka; daughters, Dorothy Simensen, Rita Vance, Donna Hardtke and Darlene Bender; 26 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Haider of Minnesota; and a brother, Leonard Voit of Minnesota.
Memorials may be made to either Rocky Mountain Hospice, 2110 Overland Ave., No. 111, or to Holy Rosary Church, 501 Custer Ave.
A vigil service was held Nov. 4 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Memorial Mass was held Nov. 5 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Committal of ashes was in Holy Cross Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Moose Lodge on Calhoun Lane.
