Joyce Harms, 94, who taught school for 35 years, died Feb. 2, 2012.
She was born in Terry on Aug. 31, 1917, to Charles and Margaret McCulloch. She attended public schools in Circle and in Sheridan, Ore., where the family had relocated in 1932. She received a teaching credential from Oregon Normal School and completed a four-year degree at Eastern Montana College.
She taught for 35 years in rural McCone County schools and in Circle’s seventh and eighth grades before she retired in 1978. She had traveled widely and had been a Jazzercise devotee for 50 years.
She had received care the last 20 months from Billings Clinic, Acute Care Hospital, and the Aspen Meadows Community.
Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Balyeat of Billings; a son, Jan Ophus of Eugene, Ore.; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services were held Feb. 6 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary in Billings.
