Viola (Seibel) Castellano, 89, a homemaker for most of her life, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012.
She was born on a farm on Aug. 12, 1922, near Lincoln Valley, N.D., to John and Lucy Seibel, the third youngest of their 14 children.
She met Peter Castellano in Meaderville and married him on June 19, 1949. In 1964, they moved to “the flats” of Butte.
Mrs. Castellano sewed patchwork quilts from flannel and weaved rag rugs on her loom. When the children were older, she took on employment as a cook’s helper and later worked as an Avon representative. Her husband died in 1979 in an automobile accident, and in 1981 she moved to Billings to be near family.
Survivors include sisters, Helen Pfaff and Mary Hornbacher; children, Michael Castellano, Gay Castellano and Peter Castellano; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, at Cremation & Funeral Gallery, 29 Eighth St. W. Interment of ashes will be at a private ceremony in Holy Cross Cemetery in Butte.
