Willie Corneau, 82, a longtime Postal Service worker and member of the Naval Reserve, died March 18, 2012.
He was born April 18, 1929, in Fall River, Mass. He graduated from Fall River High School and served in the Navy from 1946 through 1950, receiving an honorable discharge. He then joined the Naval Reserve from 1959 to 1989, retiring as a chief petty officer.
He married Beverly Lloyd in 1952, and they had three daughters. They later divorced. He married Waynetta Stapleton Jones in 1977.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1959 to 1984. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers for more than 50 years, remaining a member even after he retired and holding many offices.
He was a member of American Legion Post 4 for 38 years, the Elks Lodge, Huntley Project Lions Club and Pryor Creek Golf Club since its founding in 1980.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Barbara Hinther of Dietrich, Idaho, Jean Warner of Billings and Laurie McKettrick/Klatt of Spokane, Wash.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services with military honors will be at 11 a.m. March 27 at Huntley United Methodist Church. Lunch will follow. Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
