Wayne Beaner

Wayne Beaner, 74, a retired draftsman and insurance agent, died April 7, 2012, after suffering a massive brain aneurysm on Feb. 4 at Valley Healthcare Center.

He was born March 22, 1938, to Leo and Ida (Lambertz) Beaner in Humboldt, S.D. After graduating from high school, he joined the South Dakota Air National Guard and was honorably discharged after two years of service. He attended Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., and married Angela on May 2, 1959, in Stratton, Colo.

They farmed in eastern South Dakota, then moved to Brookings, S.D., where he attended South Dakota State University-Brookings. They later moved to Sioux Falls where he became a draftsman for Egger Steel and Gage Brothers. He also taught drafting at the College of Technology in Sioux Falls and joined the Knights of Columbus. Mr. and Mrs. Beaner were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

In 1976, Mr. Beaner transferred to Billings for Egger Steel. He was a draftsman for Montana Prestress and for United Prestress until 1986. He was working for CTA Architects when he retired.

In 1988, he became an insurance field agent for the Knights of Columbus. He held many offices within the KC organization, including Faithful Navigator and Grand Knight. He was a member of the 4th Degree. In 1998, he was elected State Deputy for the Montana Knights of Columbus. At the time of his illness, he was the Financial Secretary for Council 1259.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Therese Johnson, Janet Bohrer, David Beaner and Lynne Fairchild; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Norman, Donald, Thomas and Larry; and sisters, Katherine and JoAnn.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Vigil will be at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2055 Woody Drive. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, with luncheon to follow. A spaghetti dinner fund-raiser will be sponsored by Council 1259 at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 6 p.m. Friday. A $5 donation is requested.

Donations can be made to Wendy’s Adopt-a-Child in Billings or Catholic Social Services Adoption Program.
