William “Bill” Lapke, 81, a longtime Nemont employee, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at his home in Laurel.
He was born May 26, 1931, in Madoc, the son of William and Alice Marie (LaRoche) Lapke. In 1949 he graduated from Scobey High School.
He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 and served for 10 years. He was stationed in Japan and learned to work with radios. After an honorable discharge, he lived in Oakland, Calif. He was then hired by Nemont, so he moved back to Montana and worked there for more than 30 years.
On Feb. 17, 1963, he married Jutta Meyer.
He was a member of the American Legion. He had received care from Rocky Mountain Hospice.
Survivors include children, Willette Kuehn, Bruce Lapke, Susan Lapke, Barbara Lapke, April Lapke and Sandra Harding; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Harvey and Leo Hazel.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Private family interment of ashes will be held later.
