Doris Ruth Van Dusen Jones, 87, who had worked for several Laurel businesses, died early in the morning of Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Canyon Creek Memory Care Community.
She was born to Amie and Walter Van Dusen on Aug. 31, 1924, in Glendive, the second of five siblings. She graduated from Savage High School in 1942 and married Lyle Jones on May 22, 1942. He died in 2007.
In the early ’50s, she had worked for Bice Truck Lines, followed by employment at Johnson Ford and Jan’s IGA, all in Laurel.
She had been involved in bowling, golf, gardening, traveling, hand-stitching a dozen hand-pieced quilts, bridge and genealogy. She had been a member for more than 50 years of both the Laurel Methodist Church and the Zidonian Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as a member of the Grand Cross of Colors.
She had lived five years at Sweetwater Retirement Community and the last eight months at Canyon Creek Memory Care Community.
Survivors include two daughters, Peg Parker of Billings and Karen Crow of Red Lodge; three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Noreen Frette and Eunice Flagler.
Services were July 18 at Cremation & Funeral Gallery in Billings.
