Eldon ‘Aaron’ Willis Meyer

Eldon Willis “Aaron” Meyer, 82, who had ranched and farmed, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Valley Health Care.

He was born July 13, 1930, on the family farm at Athol, Kan. He attended Athol Grade School and graduated from Athol High School in 1947. After graduation, he worked on the family farm.

In 1949 he enlisted in the Air Force and was discharged in 1950. He married Annette Worthington on July 17, 1950. They moved back to Athol and took over the farming operation.

Mr. Meyer moved to Billings in 1973. He bought a cattle ranch at Musselshell that was managed and operated by his son, Jay, and his grandson, Luke Cates and family.

Survivors include a longtime companion, Gwen Brecht; a son, Jay Meyer of Musselshell; a daughter, Jan Cates of Billings; sisters, Roma Lyon of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Beth Uden of Grafton, Neb.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 13 at Cremation & Funeral Gallery. A celebration of his life will be held this spring.
