Dallas Vern Botsch, 77, of Shepherd, who farmed and ranched and had served on the Shepherd school board, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, of pneumonia.
He was born Jan. 30, 1935, to Martin J. and Florence (Ward) Botsch in Billings. He was raised on a ranch and farm near Shepherd. He attended Riverside and Shepherd schools and had a brother, Kelly; a sister, Eileen Bandle; and twin sisters, Byrde Kamrath and Beth Frank.
While growing up, he worked in the sugar beet field and plowed, irrigated and helped harvest crops. He also helped brand and feed about 80 head of cattle and drive them to summer pasture.
He married Georgia Marsh, and they had two girls, Vickie Corcoran and Teri Redmond. On May 20, 1966, he married Sandra Hill in Cody, Wyo., and they had six children, Dallas “D.J.,” Danyelle Grace, Donya Pasterino, Dave, Deena Washington and Darren.
In 1970 he formed a corporation called Dal-mar-kel with his brother Kelly and his father.
He served on the Shepherd School Board for about six years and belonged to the Shepherd Lions Club and the Billings Bench Water Association.
Survivors include his children; 12 grandchildren; and a sister, Eileen.
