W. Carter Snell, 91, of Billings, who had ranched and operated an airplane repair business, died Thursday, July 25, 2013.
He was born Jan. 27, 1922, in Miles City, the son of Walrond Carter Snell Sr. and Margaret Gladys Anthony. He graduated from high school in Miles City and attended Carroll College before entering the Navy.
He married Harriette A. Watzler on June 23, 1945. They lived in Alliance, Neb., following his honorable discharge from the Navy. He later ranched on Mizpah Creek and in the Jordan area. His wife died on Feb. 4, 1997.
Survivors include two children, Diane Hooker of Billings and Charles Snell of Fossil, Ore.; a brother, Jim Snell; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He had received care from RiverStone Hospice.
At his request, no services were held. Private family inurnment was in the Snell family plot in the Custer County Cemetery beside his wife. Arrangements were by Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
