James A. Vick, 85, of Billings, who had managed a grain elevator and worked in highway construction, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Billings Clinic.
He was born in Watford City, N.D., on Sept. 9, 1927, the son of George and Anne Vick. He was raised in the Banks, N.D., community attending Banks school and Watford City High School. In 1945 he enlisted in the Navy at age 17. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
In July 1951 he married Violet Stashuk. The couple moved to Montana in 1952 where he managed a grain elevator for 24 years. He then worked in highway construction until he retired in 1989.
He was a member of Operator Engineer Local 400, Elks Lodge and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Nancy Egeland and Susan Welch; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Yellowstone County Veterans Cemetery in Laurel. Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
