Helen Dixon Aarstad, 80, who ranched with her husband in Montana and Wyoming, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at her home in Billings.
She was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Lusk, Wyo., to Robert and Helen Dixon. She grew up rodeoing and working on the family ranch. She graduated from Newcastle High School and attended the University of Wyoming.
In 1960 she was married to Chuck Larsen and they had three children. They ranched in Wyoming and later in Montana. They later divorced.
In 1993 she married Gene Aarstad, and they enjoyed riding their horses in the Beartooths. He died in 2001.
Mrs. Aarstad retired as curator of the Anna Miller Museum in Newcastle, Wyo. She later worked as a home health care aide and as a volunteer at her church and in grade schools.
Survivors include three children, Loren Larsen, Bruce Larsen and Carol Schoening; four grandchildren; and a brother, Clayton Dixon.
Services were on Aug. 31 at Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
