Clara Hergenrider, 72, of Belfry, who worked 20 years for the Family Planning Clinic in Fairfield, Iowa, and surrounding counties, died Sept. 10, 2013, at home with hospice care.
She was born Feb. 12, 1941, in Glasgow to Carl and Helen. She married Rudy Hergenrider in July 1996 in Belfry. She lived the majority of her years in Fairfield and had lived in Belfry for the last 16 years.
While working full time, she earned a bachelor of arts degree in social work from Buena Vista College.
She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Fairfield and the Lutheran Church of Belfry. She taught Sunday school and worked with the elderly. She enjoyed becoming a rancher’s wife by helping build fences, moving cows and other odd jobs to make the farm run.
Survivors include her husband, Rudy Hergenrider; three children, John Harper of Fairfield, Iowa, Bonita Sporer of Lansing, Mich., and David Harper of Packwood, Iowa; three stepchildren, Lynette Rudio and Leslie Hergenrider, both of Billings, and Joy Lynn Walker of Spokane, Wash.; a brother, Bob Carlson of Spencer, Iowa; and a grandchild.
Services were held Sept. 14 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bridger. Close friends and family will have a graveside service in Fairfield, Iowa, at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 21 at Fairfield Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel
