John Joseph Miller, 66, of Billings, who had served in the National Guard, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at his home.
He was born June 6, 1947, in Dickinson, N.D., a son of Helen Wiesmann Miller and John M. Miller. He was raised in Mott, N.D., until his family moved to Billings in 1959. He graduated from West High School in 1966. He attended Wyoming Vo-Tech and served in the North Dakota-Montana National Guard from March 1967 to July 1976.
On Sept. 6, 1968, he married Helen Kamarath in Mott, N.D., and they made their home in Billings.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Helen; a sister, Sharon Anderson; children, Tina Miller, James Miller, Scott Miller, Travis Miller, Tanya Little Owl and Bryan Miller; eight grandchildren; six adopted grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He had received care at Frontier Cancer Center, St. Vincent Internal Medicine and St. Vincent Healthcare. Bryan Miller had helped get him to all of his appointments.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Cremation & Funeral Gallery. Services will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 22 at Tree of Life Wesleyan Church, 3608 Custer Ave.
