Marriett Tarbet Daines, 96, who loved clothes and jewelry and was Mrs. Montana 1954, died May 18, 2014, at Tendernest.
She was born April 24, 1918, in Smithfield, Utah, the 10th of 13 children of Nephi and Julia Tarbet. She graduated from North Cache High School and married Weston Ray Daines on Jan. 3, 1937.
She had worked for Sukins Clothing, Dr. Frye and LuEv’s dress shop. Her basement was once a haven to her granddaughters, who spent hours playing dress-up with her vintage dresses and jewelry.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and an accomplished horsewoman.
She had received care from physician Neal Sorensen, and the staffs of Tendernest and Rocky Mountain Hospice.
Survivors include a son, Clair Daines; a daughter, Marilyn Daines; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A family service is planned for June 14 in Smithfield, Utah. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel.
