Elizabeth “Betty” Louisa Haun, 91, who worked for 25 years at Miles Avenue Elementary School, died May 22, 2014, at her home in Billings.
She was born in Baker on Sept. 4, 1922, to Emil and Antionette Weyerbacher, the second of three children. She graduated from Baker High School as valedictorian and a star basketball player.
The family moved from Baker to a new homestead in the Kinsey Irrigation Project north of Miles City, and she attended junior college in Miles City. She married Richard C. Haun in 1942 in Miles City. He died after 54 years of marriage.
She moved to Billings in 1955, where she raised her five children, then worked at Miles Avenue Elementary School, where she was kitchen manager upon retirement.
She was a volunteer at both Billings hospitals, was a member of First United Methodist Church and served as a prayer-chain warrior.
Survivors include children, Rick Haun, Chet Haun, Sheri Paseka and Terri Haun; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were May 24 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Interment was May 27 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
